What is D&B’s cleansing process?

D&B’s cleansing process is a patent pending process that consists of several steps that result in parsed, normalized and standardized data to tell you if your address is deliverable. These steps encompass:

• Auditing your file
• Standardizing and correcting your addresses, including appending Zip+4
• Delivery Sequence File (DSF) processing to tell you if your address is deliverable or not
• Locatable Address Conversion (LACs) processing to convert Rural Route addresses to physical addresses
• National Change of Address (NCOA) processing (Note: this data will only be delivered if a copy of the NCOA form has a been signed and is on file with D&B. The NCOA form must be signed annually.)

Once your input file has been put through our cleansing process, your cleansed addresses are used as input for matching. [Link to Cleanse & Match data dictionary]
